Breaking the Surface: The Safe-Space for Female College Athletes

Have you ever felt alone as a female athlete in your sport? It’s okay, me too. Hello there! My name is Hallory Domnick, and I am a college female athlete at the University of Northern Iowa! I’ve experienced all the highs and lows that come with sports. From injuries to heartbreak to wins and triumph, it has shaped me into the athlete I am today. I understand what it’s like to be alone as an athlete because I’ve been there. I’ve had to sacrifice so much to get to the level of competition I am today, and it hasn’t been easy. There are times when I’ve felt alone, where I feel nobody could understand what I’m going through, and times when I feel cared for and seen as who I am. I’ve learned over the past few years how important it is to communicate my thoughts and feelings with others, and it’s helped me find my passion for my sport again. If you’re looking for a safe space to listen and share your story as an athlete, Breaking the Surface is the place for you to discover the community of other female athletes who are behind you! So, if you’re ready to break through and share your experiences as an athlete, tune into Breaking the Surface! To Listen, go to: Apple Podcast Questions? Email: domnickh@uni.edu
